DeLuca-Hoffman Associates, Inc. assisted Hannaford Bros. Co on their “Platinum” Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified store off Cony Street and Stone Street in Augusta. This 48,000 SF Supermarket and Pharmacy was the first “Platinum” LEED certified supermarket in the world. The project included:
- Demolition of the former Cony High School
- Terraced Segmental Retaining walls with slope stability challenges
- Green Roof and geothermal heating systems
- Research on light colored pavement to meet LEED credit for heat island effect
- Subsurface chambers above underdrained soil filter to meet the State of Maine stormwater quantity and quality goals
- Achieved 15 sustainable site credits under the USGBC LEED criteria
