Project Description
West Falmouth Crossing represents the collaborative efforts of private developers, municipal staff and professional design teams in the overall planning, design, permitting, and construction of a multi-use development that features a mix of large and small-scale businesses along, with a variety of medium to small scale commercial uses. One of numerous Hannaford grocery stores designed and permitted by our office anchors the East Side of the development, while the new Banknorth business offices anchor the West Side of the project. Other developments within the overall master plan site include an Irving Convenience Store, Dunkin’ Donuts, Gorham Savings Bank, medical offices, a daycare facility, and a mixed-use retail center.

Innovative engineering methods were required to overcome the poor soils at the site, including the use of wick drains, reinforced turf slopes, and carefully sequenced construction methods. The project also featured a two-mile force main sewer extension with two pump stations and five stormwater management ponds that provide water quality benefits to the receiving waters.

Overall planning, design, permitting, and construction administration for a 250,000 s.f. Master Plan development encompassing the east and west sides of Route 100 off Exit 10 of the Maine Turnpike in Falmouth, Maine. The project provides a unique business/commercial area to the local residents and commuters in Southern Maine.
