West Falmouth Shopping Center, Falmouth, Maine:
Management of the design and permitting of the multi-tenant shopping center. The project involved significant soils constraints and natural resource limitations that were overcome with creative engineering solutions.
Route 1 Sewer Improvement Project, Saco, Maine:
Management of the design and construction administration of a 6.5 million dollar sewer improvement project. Included within this project were over 5,900 linear feet of force main, 19,800 linear feet of gravity sewer main, 5,500 linear feet of sewer and storm drain service leads, and 7,600 linear feet of storm drain.
Bear Brook, Goosefare Brook And Mill Brook Sewage Pump Stations, Saco, Maine:
Overall project administration for three sewage pump stations with a maximum pump capacity ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 gpm. Included within this project were odor control systems, emergency standby generator, and instrumentation system containing a SCADA system.
Combined Sewer Overflow Abatement Study, Saco, Maine:
Oversaw the preparation of the Saco CSO Abatement Study. Tasks included development of base maps, CSO sampling, modeling, and review of alternative abatement strategies to meet the presumptive and demonstrative approach for CSO abatement.
Water System Upgrade, Ellsworth, Maine:
Overall project management of design phase and construction administration of an extension to the municipal water system to service a new high lift pressure zone. Project included a 3,400 foot extension of 12” main and a pumping station with jockey, domestic and fire service pumps.
Utility Main Extension, Rochester, New Hampshire:
Management of the design tasks associated with a 2,800 foot extension to the municipal water and sanitary sewer facilities.
School Site Selection Studies and Evaluations:
William Hoffman oversaw site selection studies for school sites throughout the State of Maine with the attendant preparation of documents to support the school’s application to the State for site selection approval. Site selection studies include the Gorham Middle School, the MSAD #48 middle schools in Newport and Hartland, the Windsor School expansion, the selection of the new K-8 school site for Sabattus and School Union 44, the MSAD #51 middle school in Cumberland, and other facilities in the State of Maine.
This experience culminates in broad experience of site selection and evaluation of methods to overcome site limitations including gravel pits, nearby landfills, wetlands, bedrock, and other site constraints. DeLuca-Hoffman Associates, Inc. has prepared a graphic manual identifying common constraints for use with schools throughout the State and is very familiar with the seemingly conflicting goals of MeDEP and natural resource agencies, the Maine Department of Transportation, utility providers, the State Planning Office, and the budgetary constraints of the State of Maine Department of Education and local schools.
At the post-secondary level, Bill Hoffman has been actively involved in the University of Southern Maine Gorham campus upgrades, including the internal loop roads and parking, the Field House, the Ice Arena, and the academic admissions area upgrade.
The firm also has extensive experience in the design and selection of utility services for schools including state-of-the-art pretreatment facilities with groundwater discharge, fire ponds, and public utility extensions.
Permitting for Institutional Facilities:
William Hoffman and DeLuca-Hoffman Associates, Inc. have a proven record of assisting schools and architects in site permit application preparation and the local, State, and Federal approval processes. Experience with permitting needs and requirements has been vital to the ability of DeLuca-Hoffman Associates, Inc to establish realistic budgets for site development prior to local referenda.
